Maths Teacher:

Job Title: Mathematics/Computing Teacher

Role: KS3 and KS4 Maths Teacher

Location: Forest Farm School, Elsfield, Oxford, OX3 9UW

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Salary: £37,000 to £39,000 per annum FTE depending on experience

Hours: 08:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Term Time Only

Start Date: ASAP.

About the Role: Oxford Montessori Schools is looking for a dynamic and creative Maths Teacher for its Senior School in Elsfield, on the outskirts of Oxford. The role involves working with KS3 and KS4 students, requiring the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual learners of widely varied abilities. The school is academically non-selective, and classes, despite being small, have a broad range of abilities with teaching assistant support. The successful candidate will have a passion for the subject, a good understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) learners, as well as gifted and talented students.

The school is located at the rural Forest Farm site, with teaching in carefully converted Victorian farm buildings. The role is exceptionally flexible, requiring outdoor teaching to utilize the extensive outdoor environment. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-established senior staff team.

Key Duties:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the curriculum and educational standards.

  • Teach mathematics to students using various instructional methods (lectures, discussions, hands-on activities).

  • Assess student progress and provide individualized instruction and support as needed.

  • Create a positive and engaging learning environment, promoting student participation and success.

  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff for interdisciplinary projects and activities.

  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress and behaviour.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field.

  • Teaching certification or license in Mathematics (state-specific requirements may apply).

  • Strong knowledge of mathematics concepts, theories, and applications.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to effectively manage a classroom and engage students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.

  • Proficient in using technology for instructional purposes.

  • Patience, flexibility, and a passion for teaching mathematics.

  • Must have worked in a UK school and taught GCSE Maths.
